Thorough Inspections Every Single Time

You probably know to call a professional for repairs, but did you know a qualified electrician should do a thorough inspection every time they are on your property?

PowerMeans offers this as part of every service visit and as a standalone service. We aim to exceed professional standards because we care about your safety.

Ensuring Code Compliance & Safety

We hold ourselves to the strictest standards, including compliance with all local and national codes dictated by the National Electrical Code (NEC). This ensures your home is reliable and protects your investment—making it easier to sell your home with minimal trouble.

Note on Older Homes: Even if an older home was once “up to code,” it may not be suited for today’s power demands (laptops, smartphones, EV chargers). An inspection tells you exactly what you are working with.

Why Inspections Are Crucial

  • Buying or Selling: Understand what you are getting into and ensure the investment is safe.

  • Newly Remodeled Homes: Catch neglected electrical systems, aging components, or outdated designs.

  • Safety First: Our techs are specifically trained to flag and take corrective action to keep your family safe.

Common Code Violation Guidelines

Bathrooms

  • GFCI receptacles are required.
  • Must be a receptacle within 3 ft of sink basin edge.
  • No receptacles face-up on countertops.
  • Must have at least one separate 20-amp branch circuit (for high wattage devices like hair dryers).

Kitchens

  • All countertop receptacles must be GFCI.
  • No receptacles >20 inches above countertops.
  • Receptacles required above countertops 12″+ wide.
  • At least one receptacle on islands or peninsulas.

General Rooms

  • Wall receptacles required every 12 feet.
  • Receptacles on any wall space >24 inches wide.
  • Hallways >10 feet must have at least one receptacle.

Our Assessment Process

We leave no stone unturned. Instead of focusing on only one problem, we take a holistic look to make sure that your entire space is safe.

1 The Check

We inspect the entire property and ask a full suite of questions to understand your home’s history.

2 The Report

We develop a thorough, official report detailing needed work, repairs, and relevant cost estimates.

3 The Solution

We identify issues immediately. If we can’t solve it right away, we guide you through the best options.

These official reports can be used for insurance purposes as well as during property sales.
